Beyond the Horizon

Just a little blog post to announce the publication of, Beyond the Horizon, the first publication of Bamboccioni Books. It is a collection of short stories on the theme of 'discovery' and available at Amazon now! I'm sure anybody in their right mind would love to receive this as a present for any occasion. (I would like to say that I'm not being paid for advertising this book, but as I'm one of the authors who contributed a story, technically I am. But that doesn't mean I'm biased. Of course not. Never.)

It was the first story I was actually commissioned to write. Being asked to write a story by a publisher makes a very nice change from begging publishers to publish things I've already written! I guess this does kind of make me a published author now, right? I am slightly bemused by the fact that it went on sale yesterday and there is one "used" copy for sale on Amazon already. The mystical world of book selling...

  1. Well done, Chloe - and it more than 'kind of' makes you a published author!

It's great that you were asked to contribute something - a real thumbs-up for your talents!

I like the cover (particularly the font they've used for the title); I'll definitely check the book out.

  2. Thanks :)

I like the font too! I've been quite impressed with Bamboccioni for doing such a professional job and so quickly. They only recruited the writers at the beginning of the year!

  3. Well done Chloe! When we do we hold the virtual toast?

  4. If it's virtual then you can have a toast for me anytime that suits you, Derek!

  5. CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a published author my friend. This is a big thing in any writer's life so I think I might just buy a copy simply to show support and solidarity.
    I'm delighted for you.

  7. Thank you Tom. You will find a story by Derek in the book too, who you will see also comments on this blog. I'm going to read his later, so I'll let you know if it's any good ;0)

  8. Chloe, I read your story Keeping Mum and I was very impressed. The narrator's voice is clear and distinct, avoids cliche and keeps the story moving along. You've embedded the story in the real world, with all its uncertainties and challenges, without sacrificing pace or character. I especially like the dialogue. Peppermint teas all round (I get through a box every week or so)!

  10. Great news Chloe! Maybe you and Anonymous's daughter ought to get together and swap notes?!

  11. Well Done! That's great news :) I'll see if I can dig in my pockets and find enough pennies to buyh a copy hehe. That must be a good feeling, not only being published, but having been approached and asked to contribute. Definitely hats off to you, girl.
So what drew their attention to you?

  12. Thanks, Nari. Maybe after all those presents your husband got you, what he really deserves for his birthday is a copy of a short anthology of amateur short stories (to eb fair some of the authors are actual professionals!)

It was a mixture of nepotism and skill I like to think. They asked me to contribute after reading my entry from a competition I won just before Christmas (the skill part) - but they probably wouldn't have ever come across that if I hadn't been to the same school as the publisher (the nepotism!) who saw someone talking about it on facebook. Probably a bit of God in there too ;)
